Total Blackout is a game show on the Syfy network, and they feature live animals and bugs in their and events. The premise is that the contestant(s) must complete challenges in total darkness by carrying items, touching things, or traveling in a maze. The living things are subject to cruel and unusual handling as the contestants often flail their arms and continually drop whatever they'r holding. The irritation of the animals can be clearly seen by the viewers as they grunt, growl, and bite. The contestants sign up for what is in store, but the animals are forced to endure pure darkness followed by patting, pushing, groping, and dropping. If we stand up for the rights of those animals, the show might seek other ways of scaring the contestants via non-living objects. This would be a fair solution for all involved.
