Lift the restrictions on singing and use of instruments in the classroom!
Why this petition matters
Recently, new rules have been put in place as a result of the reopening of schools. Doug Ford's new restrictions have caused unfair treatment of the specialized art programs within the TDSB.
Schools, such as Wexford Collegiate School For the Arts, have had a ban placed on singing, as well as playing woodwind and brass instruments due to the chance it would spread the COVID-19 virus. These are core elements that make up the curriculum of the performing arts classes. Singing makes a huge difference in students' lives and plays a massive role in their curriculum; without it their classes cannot function normally. It’s worth noting, over the course of the time students were allowed to sing in school with masks on, not one student in the vocal programs caught the virus. Now all of a sudden the right to sing in school has been taken from the students.
Singing in the arts programs is just as important as a math student doing algebra, so please join our cause and help lift these restrictions by signing this petition!
