On 28th February 2017, Bethan Edwards was walking along the school path of Woodlands Community School in Cwmbran, when she tripped due to a pothole in the path. One of many potholes on this path.
Bethan not only smashed her glasses but she sustained injuries and was taken by ambulance to A & E. Some of the injuries are ongoing, such as memory absent seizures as a result of the head injury she received. Please see attached pictures of potholes in the path and Bethans injury.
After speaking to parents it has become apparent that many children have tripped over the years because of these potholes. This path is being used daily by school children of all ages and we feel that it is appalling that TCBC has refused to repair them. An officer went to look at the path on the 2nd March and no defect was reported.
As you can see by the photo, there are many defects and as a result Bethan Edwards is now left with a medical condition.
We submit this petition today asking that TCBC put the safety of all of the children first and repair these holes as a matter of urgency. It's too late for Bethan, but not for the other children.
