Stefanie Black started this petition to Toowoomba Regional Council

Toowoomba city currently has only 2 fenced off-leash dog parks, with no fenced dog parks on the Eastern side of Toowoomba.

The socialisation of dogs is essential for their development and avoiding aggression issues with other dogs. Dog parks, like those in many Brisbane suburbs which have separated fenced areas for small and large dogs are a great contribution to local communities. Not only do they provide a safe and secure environment for people to exercise their dogs, they also become a community hub where friendships are formed.

Though there are designated off-leash areas in Queen’s park and Garnet Lehmann park the areas are not fenced and close to busy roads so I don’t feel comfortable letting my dog off the lead.

Emmerson Park in Centenary Heights is a large grassed area that is currently not in use and would be an ideal spot for a fenced dog park.

I’m appealing to the Toowoomba Regional Council to build more dog parks in Toowoomba as they are a great contribution to local communities and families - not just for the furry members!
