By the time you read this, cases of coronavirus in the United States will have risen to well over 200,000, and the number of deaths will have far surpassed 5000. Every passing day, the number of dead and infected rises rapidly.

In the context of the nation’s worst pandemic in over a century, the state of Wisconsin is planning to hold a presidential primary on Tuesday, April 7, thereby putting hundreds of thousands of people at risk.

This is insanity. There are already over 1500 cases of coronavirus in Wisconsin and at least 33 deaths, 16 in Milwaukee alone.

Fifteen states have already postponed their primaries. We call upon Wisconsin to do the same.

As of April 1st, many Wisconsin democratic officials and the mayor of Milwaukee have called or the election to be postponed, but former VP Joe Biden has not taken a position.  If he refuses to immediately call for the postponement of the Wisconsin primary, he will have forfeited any moral claim to the presidency and hence our vote.

We call upon Joe Biden, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, and the Democratic National Committee to put public health first and act immediately to postpone the Wisconsin primary.
