Tony Burke. Protect the Leard Forest Koala population by rejecting the mining application made by Whitehaven Coal and Boggabri

Together, the Maules Creek open-cut coal mine in NSW and the Boggabri expansion will destroy up to 5,000 hectares of the Leard State Forest. This is crucial habitat to koalas and other vulnerable species. Mining approval means a death sentence for this wildlife.
Climate catastrophe is only a few tough decisions away. Coal is the lifeblood of climate change and it is in Australia's best interest now and in the future for the mining application made by Whitehaven Coal to be rejected as well as the Boggabri expansion.
