Sea level started rising in the late 1800s, soon after we started burning coal, gas and other fossil fuels for energy.

Carbon got stuck in the atmosphere and started eventually heating earth up. This caused the polar caps to melt consequently making the oceans levels rise.

This is a serious issue because many people. others will be affected by it by erosion of soil causing landslides (approximately 20 million people will be affected in some way). It will also cause Tuvalu (a country in the pacific that is a small island) to be fully sunken by the year 2095

What causes this issue?

The main cause of this issue is climate climate change and the world heating up and the polar caps melting causing more of the world's water to fall into the ocean which therefore makes the ocean rise.

Something else contributing the volume of the ocean is expanding as the water warms.

What you can do!

It is impossible to completely prevent global sea levels from rising due to the greenhouse gas effect, fortunately there is a way to reduce the amount the ocean rises by cutting down on using greenhouse gases and using less fossil fuels and also using more renewable energy.
