The Thibodaux Massacre of 1887 is responsible for the death of 30-60 sugarcane workers who protested a wage system that wrongfully tied them to the land in which they worked. Thibodaux's own citizens suffer from this tragedy, which has been kept in the dark for decades. Project Going Home is a movement hoping to locate and identify the victims of this horrific event, and to give them a proper burial. It is time to bring this part of Thibodaux's history into the light and honor these unjustly murdered fellow Louisianians.
