The future development of the Point Molate shoreline in Richmond, Calif. must include beautiful public space for recreation, arts, culture, and locally-owned businesses. Creating a park for bicyclists, walkers, runners, and people of all ages seeking family-friendly recreation and physical activity in a beautiful coastal setting meets this promise.

Responding to the need for preserving public access and non-privatized use of the Point Molate shoreline,  Rich City Rides proposes the creation of the Major Taylor Bike Park and Velodrome. This public park would link to the Bay Trail, stewarded by the East Bay Regional Park District, and feature a velodrome for recreational and competitive cycling and training.

We envision the Major Taylor Bike Park and Velodrome as an anchor destination for an Artisan Village that would include revenue-generating worker cooperatives and locally-owned businesses. This hub would also include an amphitheater and other performance venues that would help build Point Molate's reputation for vibrant recreation, culture, and innovative commerce.
