Students must go back to school in person for many reasons, whether it’s only for two days a week or five. There are a lot of poor people in Lancaster, and they need their kids to have somewhere to go during the day. Going back to school also provides breakfast and lunch for students who otherwise might go without. Kids need a good education, and some people aren’t self motivated enough to do the online work. Not going back to school is also a risk for students whose parents are stressed and might take it out on them as abuse. The last half of the school year wasn’t very helpful to some kids, students felt the the work was either too easy or too hard and that they weren’t learning as much. Students really need this support. I’m saying this as a rising 7th grader at Wheatland MS.
