Holding primaries during a pandemic is voter suppression. It poses an immediate hazard to both public health and democracy. Forcing citizens to choose between the possibility of contracting COVID-19 and not exercising their right to vote is completely immoral. The majority of the election staff in many counties are elderly and are considered to be a part of "high risk groups" for COVID-19. There has also been a great deal of conflicting information in the past 48 hours confusing many registered voters. Because of these reasons, I believe it would not only be in the best interest of the democratic party, but also the best interest of the voters and healthcare workers to delay the primaries until it is considered reasonably safe to do so.
