Would you like to see more flexibility for Toledo Public Schools Virtual Option?
Why this petition matters
Due to Covid-19, Toledo Public Schools has decided to start schools virtually. As a parent, I completely understand the difficult decisions made to reach this conclusion. As I watched the board meeting I noticed that virtual school would be held between 8 am-3 pm. Our family is one of the many where both parents work during those hours. I feel this is a great disservice to our TPS students. Students will need help to navigate assignments and computer programs, as well as help to manage time and behaviors. Babysitters, daycare workers, and family members should not be stuck with this responsibility. TPS schools are partners with the parents. Flexibility should be added to both forms of the virtual school ( the virtual academy used for when the school has a red advisory as well as the one chosen by the parents for safety reasons). Teachers should be able to record the lesson. The parents can then access the lessons with their TPS students at their convenience. Work should have due dates and large assignments should be due by Sunday. Please take a minute to sign the petition. It is important to every TPS student that educators and parents are able to remain flexible and work together this school year.
