Make Taito (Tai/Taichi x Matt/Yamato) canon in Digimon Adventure Tri
I think we all remeber the horror that was Digimon Adventure 02's ending, don't we? For those who found it so bad that they've forcefully eraced it from their memory, I'll explain: the endgame pairings were random and undeveloped, the characters' occupations made no sense for the most part, and the girls didn't even get to have jobs that weren't domestic or typically feminine. The worst of it was Sorato (Sora x Matt/Yamato), the pairing of Taichi's childhood sweetheart, who he got A LOT of interaction with, and Matt, Taichi's best friend. NO ONE can say this pairing was developed without using Troll Logic.
Yeah. It was as bad, if not worse than, the Naruto Shippuden ending.
So why, you must be asking, is this petition not to make Taiora (Tai/Taichi x Sora) canon? Well, you see, I do think the pairing has a lot of merit and is most definately a better option than Sorato, but wouldn't Taito make that much more of an impact?
Think about it. The Legend of Korra ended with Korrasami (Korra x Asami) as canon, while No. 6 ended with Nezumi x Shion as canon. Both, as some of you might know, are same-gender couples, just like Taito. And the reseption for these pairings? Very, very good. Why? Because they were well-developed ships that went there. They aknowledged same-gender couples in a good light.
Digimon is all about bonds, acceptance, working together and unity. Making Taito canon will cement that, while still be respectful to other ships because it wasn't out-of-the-blue (Need I really remind you of the many times these boys were on top of each other and held hands?).
The world of animation needs to change; to treat queer couples the same as they would straight ones. Us, the viewers, are the only ones with the power to do that. We can't force the creators to do anything, but we CAN show them how many people this will make happy. I won't beg, but I will ask:
Please, let's unite, like the Digidestined, and make a difference. We can't let this once-in-a-lifetime chance to change things go to waste.
