For a couple of years the Annapurna building in Leighton Road has been under threat of demolition to be replaced with sheltered housing. The building behind it is so substandard that will happen .. no problems.

But the Annapurna building is the last of a line of historic buildings remaining. Left to right there was the rifle range, the chapel school, the school house, the chapel, this building, then the council school. All gone now bar this building. It was built in 1925, so not old enough to be listed but wouldn't it be nice in years to come you could tell your grandchildren or greatgrandchildren "I learnt woodwork in there".

It is owned by Central Bedfordshire Council who are now considering passing it to our Parish Council to keep it, providing support exists.

To make it a public building refurbishment is required, there are no toilets for example and much more.

We need to support this petition to give confidence to the Parish Council & CBC, that the residents of the Village are behind this. Please sign our petition if you agree .. Alan
