Vellore Institute of Technology (Chennai campus) administration recently notified us (on December 15th) students about the reopening of the college campus (i.e. on January 24th) for the second year onwards, leading to many people booking flights and hotels in the following days. We've been studying online for the past three semesters, and we haven't even visited campus once. 

Now (3rd January 2022), the authorities have lately postponed the reopening until further notice again (as they have done for the past 3 semesters), which as a by product also incurred unnecessary money loss regarding tickets and hotels. 

Studying online in this manner while paying full tuition is a farce that not only costs substantially more than independent online courses from reputable providers, but also has a negative impact on many students' comprehension abilities (where in case of offline classes would mean phisical labs, leading to better understanding of the subject) and mental health. 

We suggest that the college authorities consider every student's perspective in mind while keeping the Covid-19 issue in mind, and give a choice in the modalities each individual need instructions in (i.e online or offline). 

We request the college take these measures, which many other professional institutions have taken and have effectively implemented in order to conduct lectures in offline mode.
