Charges for child sexual abuse require evidence of a crime before any action can be taken against an abuser.  Removing the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse would permit victim's to seek justice no matter how long it may take to prove the crime.

The law in my home state, Tennessee, currently limits action against an abuser to one year on turning age 18.  One year is not enough time for a victim to decide what action, if any, they want to take.  A victim of child abuse lives with trauma from abuse for the rest of their life.  A victim needs medical attention, sometimes long term, as well as other forms of aid or support.  Holding a perpetrator responsible for their actions for the same time period for the damage they cause is just.  Other state's statutes vary and imposing 'no statutue of limitations' for survivors in all of our United States is the ultimate goal.  Please sign this petition in support of NO STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS for litigation for child abuse survivors.  Give victims a chance to become survivors.
