The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs released an assessment in March of 2022 that recommends the closure of the Chillicothe V.A. Medical Center located in Chillicothe, Ohio. If this recommended closure is to be accepted and the closure of the Chillicothe VAMC is to occur it will have a devastating impact on not only veterans' care in the region but also the local economy. It is estimated that the Chillicothe VAMC has some 1,400 employees, 800 of which are veterans, and the Chillicothe VAMC treats an estimated 20,000 veterans each year. 

The American Legion Department of Ohio, through the signatures on this petition, urges Congress and the President of the United States, Joeseph R. Biden, not to accept the recommended closure of the Chillicothe VA Medical Center.
