Tha Chairman of the National Youth Commission urged Congress to legislate a law that will provide salaries to almost 400,000 SK Chairmen & Kagawads, SK Secretaries & Treasurers throughout the 42,000 barangays of the country.

"The newly-elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Leaders are our youngest government officials and the frontliners of President Rodrigo Duterte in our country’s battle against illegal drugs, criminality, leftist insurgency, terrorism, and in leading their communities in disaster response, during emergencies, & towards nationalism. They have the idealism and energy to mobilize their communities for nation-building. We must provide these frontliner government officials with salaries, more benefits, and more training/mobilization funds.” Undersecretary Ronald Cardema said.

“We must also provide salaries to their appointed SK Treasurers and SK Secretaries because they are the ones safekeeping the SK Funds and implementing the projects of the SK Council yet they have no salaries and benefits for doing such important functions,” the NYC Chairman added.

By doings so, this will help the youth governance became more efficient, effective and productive and making the community of the youth better and bolder. This will also boost the confidence of the youth sectors to be part of Nation-building.
