Naviya Devi Sri Puvvada(Student) started this petition to Hyderabad Municipal Cooperation

In the states of Telangana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, the Manjeera river, a tributary of the Godavari, flows. The Manjeera River is prominent because it helps in growing crops and agricultural production, as well as the only water source for farmers and villagers in the sangareddy district.

Floods, droughts, and other natural catastrophes have plagued the Manjeera River in recent decades. The river water level dropped to a trickle after the nizam sagar dam was built on the manjeera river. After releasing 17 tmcft of water last year, the project's water level has reached dead storage. The river was found to be forlorn, with pools of dirty water, enormous clumps of grass and brush, and birds feasting on insects and fish left in the dry river bed. Since this river is a major supply of water for Hyderabad, particularly villages, it has had a significant negative impact on them. As a result, there has been a substantial reduction in access to drinking water,  lack of water for agriculture and a loss of aquatic habitat.

Recently in July 2021, the agriculture fields along the river's flow have been inundated at various locations in the Sangareddy district due to excessive rains. that has impacted over 75,000 farmers in Manjeera experiencing persistent rains from upstream.  Crops were damaged, and it took a very long time for things to start recovering. As a matter of fact, we can deduce that the Manjeera River is unprepared for any catastrophic event. We may face an unpredicted problem in the future, and in order to help Manjeera River in overcoming it, we must make the necessary changes today.

Due to not taking any immediate action, the Manjeera River is not prepared to put up with any natural calamity. It's past time for us to make a change and allow this exquisite river to flow without hindrance.

We could prevent the river from overflowing by building canals and floodways, as well as planting vegetation to absorb excess water. We could provide the water that was stored from floods to all villagers and farmers for agricultural uses and other purposes during the summers or when the river dries up.

Our food comes from crop production, which is grown with the help of our farmers' hard work. It is now our responsibility as members of this society to repay nature and the hardworking farmers who have helped us in our survival.

Signing this petition will raise awareness of this issue and alert the municipality and government to make these changes with the help of scientific and technological innovation we have today. This would be our first step in achieving a sustainable ecological future.
