The truth about Pit bulls

The truth about Pit bulls
Pit bulls are a misunderstood breed with a bad reputation. But behind the bad rap they are amazing dogs. You may think pit bulls are aggressive by nature but that is not true. Most of the pit bulls are friendly family pets and some are used for dog fighting … but in dog fighting they are not aggressive in fact they are abused. Some breeders breed pit bulls for dog fighting. How? Well breeders who breed pit bulls for dog fighting breed them in a specific way to make them look muscular. After they can see, hear and walk they are taken to the pit and forced to learn how to fight. People in the pit cruelly hit pit bull puppies and no matter how loud the pit bull cries or even if it is injured, the people in the pit don’t care. They use a lot of cruel things. And they even cut the pit bull’s ears! Pit bulls ears are meant to be floppy but the reason why you see some pit bulls with pointing triangle ears is because people in the pit use a knife and cut their ears off. How cruel is that? When they are older they are taken to the ring to fight other dogs. In the ring people crowd around and cheer for the terrified and abused dogs to fight. Some people even bring their children to see this! If the pit bull refuses to fight the people in the pit will kill the dog in the most cruel way you could imagine. If the dog looses the fight it is killed by the other dog. So the only way the pit bull can win the fight is if it kills the other dog. So pit bulls from dog fighting has aggression which comes from fear. Pit bulls which are used in dog fighting which get rescued are found in shelters. Once they are in the shelters the pit bull dog won’t trust people anymore. I mean why will they trust people? From the very start people abused them. What makes it worse is how pit bulls are discriminated in shelters. Most people will usually adopt the cute looking dogs with good reputation. So sometimes the terrified pit bull will stay in the shelter for the rest of its life not trusting people. But if the pit bull is lucky enough to get adopted they will need a lot of patience. Because they are scared of people so it will take a while for them to warm up to people. Once they do they are amazing dogs trust me. But if they don’t get socialisation and training they will be scared of people and they may have fear-aggression because of their past. And because of this they may end up hurting people as self-defence of course. And the media puts all the bad stories of Pitbulls. When actually they are terrified. This is showing how unfair people treat pit bulls. There are many amazing stories of pit bulls but the media usually only puts the bad stories of pitties. There is a reason why pit bulls are called nanny dogs in the past. Because really they are very sweet dogs. But the media make them look so bad.
If a Golden retriever was walking around the neighbourhood I bet everyone will go running and saying how cute the dog is. But when a pit bull walks around the neighbourhood people will most likely avoid the dog or even say mean comments. If people really love dogs why is it they love one breed and hate the other?
Pit Bulls are really misunderstood dogs. They are banned in 900+ cities and two million Pit bulls get slaughtered a year! This is because of their bad reputation and the misunderstanding they get. Pit Bulls are amazing dogs. It is not about the breed of the dog. It is about the individual dog and the person behind the dog. There is no bad dog. It is wrong to treat Pit bulls so badly just because of their breed. When it comes to aggression the breed does not matter at all. A dog won’t become aggressive without a reason. We don’t have a problem with Pit bulls. It all begins with the mind and energy people have with dogs. So when people say what is my favourite dog breed my answer is always going to be “I love all dog breeds equally.” Because really they are all the same species.
The reason why I wrote this is because its very unfair and wrong about how the Pit Bulls are treated compared to other dogs. My goal is to spread awareness and understanding of Pit bulls. So that one day Pit bulls will live better lives.
If this petition is successful at spreading awareness and understanding of Pit Bulls, the lives of Pit bulls can be saved and more people will be aware. If it isn’t successful the discrimination against Pit bulls may stay.
