To recognise Tourettes Syndrome as a disability in Aotearoa New Zealand
Why this petition matters

I need your help!
Currently right now in New Zealand the Ministry Of Health does not consider Tourettes syndrome a disability. Many with Tourettes Syndrome experience tics that have a huge impact on their everyday life. Mainly motor tics but also verbal as well.
Depending on how hard or severe someones motor tics can be, it can impact one's ability to attend work, school, college, uni etc etc.
This means it can be hard for some to live independently and be out and about active as kids, teens or adults.
Some people can really hurt themselves with their Tics (motor tics), and it can cause long term affects on their lives.
Now this doesn't only hurt the ones with the disability but it can also have a huge impact on family members as well. Damages can occur physically or even to ones possession/home.
I believe that people who are living with the disability Tourettes syndrome are in need of immediate support from the government and its services to improve one's life.
Thanks a lot.
Uncle Tics, Leighton Clarke.
