To open a Tattoo Studio in Georgetown, SC without limitation to certain zones.
Why this petition matters

I'm Ray Sanders, I am a licensed tattoo artist meeting all South Carolina state requirements. I am a Georgetown county resident who's business is limited, following all county building and zoning guidelines. I've trained under one of the founding fathers in the tattoo industry, who helped pave the way for a cleaner and safer industry in my field. I've followed in his footsteps along the way bringing these new methods to my business. I plan to be completely disposable, including my liquid waste and hazardous material. Making my business 100% disposable. While training for my apprenticeship I was supervised by a registered nurse teaching me safer methods, and experience. I have the knowledge to provide a safer and more sustainable working environment. We are living in a world that is continuously evolving, and striving for change. I'm a very family oriented artist I want to provide a safe haven for everyone, and I stand by having that reputation. I know the stigma behind tattoo shops in other areas and I want to revamp and recreate how people perceive tattoo artists and tattoos. I have worked on countless medical employees, law enforcement officers, and social services. I also have clients who travel from other states who specifically come to Georgetown to have my work done. Allowing me to have a studio would not only help local businesses and bring in clientele for everyone it would also be a tremendous leap forward in the tattooing industry and for me personally. Having a tattoo studio would have a continuous source of customers no matter the season, who will come hungry or curious of other shops and explore around with the reputation front street already has for itself, word would get out quickly to other clientele who would be curious to explore the new growth my studio would offer. I would like to be the first to open a studio/shop in the heart of Georgetown where my heart resides. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, I want to continue helping my clientele and community with their art and memories with a more suitable environment. In South Carolina state regulations we are listed the same as Doctors office/Dental office, as well as other practice's that share the same environment. Such as salons, nail salons, and veterinarian clinics, which are scattered throughout Georgetown and not limited to how or where they are zoned. County's zoning for tattooing is limited to heavy industrial and light industrial within the county. I don't feel I should be limited to industrial whether its heavy or light. Those areas in my opinion are not suitable for a studio. This does not include the city of Georgetown SC. If you look into Monks Corner and Charleston areas they have shops in high traffic areas such as plazas and mini strip malls. I have been limited with my career and livelihood due to the zoning in the county and lack of zoning within the city of Georgetown. I belive that if other practice's can reside in the heart of Georgetown as stated above, I should be able to place my business where I would like and what I believe to be beneficial to me my family and my supporters. I want to be able to give my clients and their families the comfort they deserve with the highest level of standards possible.
