India has been a federal republic since 1950, governed in a democratic parliamentary system. It is a pluralistic, multilingual and multi-ethnic society. India's population grew from 361 million in 1951 to 1.211 billion in 2011.[50] During the same time, its nominal per capita income increased from US$64 annually to US$1,498, and its literacy rate from 16.6% to 74%. From being a comparatively destitute country in 1951,[51] India has become a fast-growing major economy and a hub for information technology services, with an expanding middle class.[52] It has a space programme which includes several planextraterrestrial missions.
The Directive Principles of State Policy, enshrined in Part IV of the Indian Constitution reflects that India is a welfare state it is founded on the concept of equal opportunities and equitable wealth distribution. It is a government concept in which the state government plays an important role in protecting and promoting its citizens' economic and social well-being.
India Ixternal debt was US$ 570.0 billion at the end of March 2021. It recorded an increase of US$ 11.5 billion over its level at end of March 2020. The external debt to GDP ratio increased to 21.1% at end of March 2021 from 20.6% an year ago.[1]
from 1947 to 2021 we are rather at lower levell .the reason behind this is corrupt BUEROCRACY ,NEXAS, MAFIA(LAND AND OIL),wrongful business by OMC (Oil Marketing Company) as accepted in 2018 in parliament by hon’able minister about 4630 litigation of HPCL,3785 of BPCL and 8999 of IOCL.
