Why this petition matters

Started by Coddy Punch

Hello, my name is Timeiki Hedspeth, I am a 44 year old African American female, currently being housed at the Federal Prison Camp, in Bryan Texas. I am serving a 175 month sentence for a white collar crime. 14 1/2 years to be exact. On January 31, 2020 I was physically sexually assaulted by a female/transgender correction officer while in handcuffs. The officer came to my room and tried to make me work while I was an unassigned inmate. I stood up for my rights according to the BOP Program Statement. After a verbal battle she told me I was getting locked up. She escorted me to the staff hallway and placed me in handcuffs. While placing the handcuffs on me she grabbed my but. After they were on me she grabbed it again. I spoke up and spoke out about what happened to me. I filed a PREA report as well and my Administrative Remedy and was told by the Central Office of the BOP in Washington, DC that if I feel that my safety is in jeopardy to contact the nearest staff member. The officer was deployed back to the military in February or March of 2020. About a month and a half ago I was called in by the SIS officer and an official investigation was conducted. My statement was taken regarding the events of that day. Now this was done after 2 and a half years. About 3 weeks ago I was notified that the officer was back on the compound. On June 30, 2022 the officer was working my unit. It was like seeing my attacker all over again. My anxiety was beyond the roof. I followed my chain of command and went to 3 Lieutenants to file a separates on the officer. One Lieutenant told me that I did not have to worry about the officer because she was not coming back to the units no time soon, another told me that I will have to get with the Associate Warden because she handles the PREA cases, and the last one said that he will talk to the AW, which is the SIS Lieutenant that interviewed me. I went back to the SIS Lt. and asked him what if I refuse housing while the officer is in the unit. His reply was that he will write me a shot, send me to the SHU and I will receive shot after shot and end up loosing my camp status. He then told me that he will call the AW again and get back with me. Well that never happened, but what did happen was that he sent their enforcer. A staff member that a lot of the inmates fear with her intimidation antics. She spoke with me starting off by saying " oh your CARES ACT got denied, you complain about everything, I hear your name all over the compound. I don't know what you are trying to do by going to all these different people. You think just because you just got interviewed that nothing was done. It just so happen to be a coincidence. We did our due diligence and nothing came out of it. I reviewed the cameras and there was no witnesses. I am not moving the officer and I am not moving you." I begin to speak and inform her there were no cameras in the middle of the staff hallway and it did happen to me. She grabbed my buttocks while I was in handcuffs twice. I have no reason to lie on this woman. If you have read my Administrative Remedies you will see that I speak facts. What me being denied my CARES ACT have to do with this situation." After the conversation was over, I went to my Unit Manager/Acting Captain and spoke with her. At this point I was very upset. I explain to her that I felt like I was attacked verbally in an intimidating manner by the staff member. She explain to me that the Lieutenants had told me to much and that half of the investigation was done but the other half was not done because the officer was not here. The other part of the investigation was completed when she came back. The officer was informed not to say anything to me in a retaliatory way outside of her job duty. But that my voice was heard. Nothing was down after all I went through to try to get heard. I felt like my attack was swiped under the rug. I am yet another victim of one of BOP's staff officers. Another cover up. I am needing help to resolve an ongoing issue. My tears won't dry up until justice is served. Please pass the word so my voice can reach someone that can help. Thank you for your time and attention. #FREEMEE
