A brief summary of what we would like to be addressed by the School of Architecture.

Computation Design: It is becoming increasingly more apparent that computational design will play a critical role in the future of architectural design. If we want students to be as successful as possible, we need to provide them with opportunities to build their computational skills and knowledge. We must continue looking for someone to teach these classes.

Advising: The time it takes to reach our academic advisor is too long. This, along with our outdated Degree Progress Reports, needs to be addressed. Additionally, students need to be informed regularly about changes to degree requirements as well as potential fifth-year credit hour minimums.

Printing: Most students print in the Bridge Lab and pay the standard fee to print. However, you can print in Chalmers for free. If that is available in Chalmers, why isn't it available in the Bridge Lab? Why should students have to go to Chalmers to print for free?

Computers: We need new desktop computers in the Bridge Lab. The computers in the Bridge Lab are inadequate. They struggle to run modeling software, especially those that can be used to generate complex designs. Laptops that students own can outperform the desktops in the Bridge Lab. A student may have a groundbreaking idea, but if the computer can't handle modeling that idea, it limits what they can achieve. Additionally, we can't expect every student to afford a good enough laptop to do everything the program will require.

Facilities & Furnishings: Much of the furniture in the studios is run down. Often, parts of the drafting tables fall apart and leave the desktop unstable. Additionally, some studios do not have blinds on the windows. This allows too much direct sunlight to come into the studio space during the day. This direct sunlight can make it hard to work at your desk and create a glare that makes it impossible to see your laptop screen.
