Military must keep out of politics! Zimbabwe is a democracy not a military state!!

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

The army has been involved directly or indirectly in civilian politics of this nation. It all started with Vitalis Zvinavashe in 2002 when he threatened the nation against voting for an opposition leader and reiterated it in April 2013 when he described the highest office on the land as a straightjacket.

On the 18 th April 2017, Chiwenga declared that he will not salute a 'President without liberation war credentials.'

We the undersigned hereby urge the army general to explain himself further and assure the nation that he does not plan to undermine the will of the people and that his statements were just a personal opinion which does not have anything to do with the generality of the law abiding security personnel.

The constitution of Zimbabwe clearly defines the duties and the mandate of the defence forces of Zimbabwe. Military interference in civilian political matters is treasonous and blatantly unconstitutional.

It is only Zimbabweans who have the power to elect a President of their choice through a free, fair and credible election.
