Niharica Bhalla started this petition to 20-32 year old women

Studies have proved how the real wage gap isn’t between men and women. It’s between people and women with children. So, the number one reason cited for the wage gap (for the same position and the same amount of work) between the sexes is having children. It sounds illogical, we know. Even though we’re in the 21st century (seemingly) child care is still assumed to be a woman’s job. A 26-week maternity leave compared to 2-week paternity leave is a slap in our faces.

We tried explaining, asking, requesting men to do their bit. Last we checked, women put in an extra 3 months for every year that a man works, trying to balance work and home. AND STILL GET PAID LESSER.

Logically, procreation should hold equal importance to both the sexes, to the whole entire world really. But we’re penalised with unequal pay because they decided child care is our responsibility. A penalty implies a mistake. A mistake should be corrected. So the only way out is -

no more kids.

No more kids. No more kids. No more kids. No more kids.

It’s a woman problem, right? The human race has 122 years from the last child born before extinction.

And don’t get us wrong, this is not blackmail. This is us taking charge. This is us solving our problem. Because it is our problem, right? We get that we’re both losing, we’re all at a loss here. But women, we were losing anyway?  We have to choose between work and family and you get to choose between work and...more work, money and more money? You don’t care if the world ends so we’ll follow in your footsteps.

You’ve accused us of using our femininity. Now we will.

A woman holding an office is paid lesser than her male counterpart for the same amount of work by virtue of her being a mother.

You see the issue here? So do we. And since you couldn't, we'll solve for it.

No more kids. This is the final call.
