The dress code should be fair and equal to all students. Boys should not be confined to a different standard than the girls. They deserve the ability to also have their ears pierced like the girls. If the parents agree to allow the student to express themselves by piercing their ears why should the school be allowed to stifle them. Teens have always struggled to express themselves because of a fear of rejection especially teen boys. There is no harm in allowing for everyone to be able to have their ears pierced. If girls are allowed the only reason the boys are not is because of the gender norms being forced upon them. The dress code prohibiting boys from wearing earrings will only cause a rift between the students and the administration. Everyone no matter what gender they are should be able to express themselves without having to fear persecution especially at school where students should feel safe. Without your help nothing will change. Many students believe they do not have a voice, that they cannot stand up, but they are wrong. This petition is not only to try and change the dress code but to have our voices finally heard. We are the ones who suffer the consequences of the administration’s decisions the most. We deserve to be free to be ourselves.
