Tioga high school is planning a virtual style graduation where the students will be recorded as they walk across the stage. The individual recordings will be compiled into one graduation ceremony, which will include speeches, to release out to students when they pick up their final transcripts in the first two weeks of the summer.

The seniors have already had so many things taken from them and deserve a more traditional style graduation ceremony. With less than 50 seniors, that type of ceremony is doable with a few guidelines. I would like to propose that the high school graduation ceremony take place at the football field. Chairs would be placed 6 ft apart on the field for the seniors to sit during the ceremony. Guests would be limited to a maximum of 8 people and the stadium seating would be sectioned off with proper distancing for each family. The stage would be limited to 2-3 faculty members with proper distancing as well. Students would walk the stage one at a time and accept their diploma as usual. We would also designate a specific area for pictures to be taken one senior/family at a time.

I think if we all work together, even if we have to make a few changes to the above proposal, we could make this happen for the seniors to give them proper closure and recognition for all the hard work and accomplishments they’ve achieved for the last 13 years!!
