Many college students have to pay a tremendous amount of money to attend college and further their education, most students, especially those from low-income families/households struggle to pay off their debt. Currently, student loan debt in the U.S. is close to exceeding $1.5 trillion dollars, whereas there is only $750 billion owed in credit cards. According to an article on the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, by Allie Bidwell, examined 2,000 colleges, of those 2,000 only 48% were affordable to wealthy students from families with annual incomes above $160,000. Around one-third of the colleges were only affordable to students with a family income over $100,000. Students that came from lower income backgrounds could only afford 1 to 5% of the colleges. Furthermore, college tuition has a continuous rise of 6% above the rate of inflation. By signing this petition you would be displaying your agreement that college tuition should be lowered in order to be more affordable so students of all backgrounds can achieve a higher education.
