The Assault of the salt

The Assault of the salt
The environmental issue I am bring attention to is salt on roads and sidewalks. The problem is when it gets in animals paws and when it washes down to the lakes and rivers, which harms the life in the water. We also put way to much of it. This problem is important for people to know because it could kill animals and could even get into drinking water.
this environmental problem impacts all of us humans and dogs and the lakes and the water system and all animals that walk on the sidewalk and live outside. This is because the salt we put on our sidewalks and driveways and steps to melt the ice and snow can get into animals feet. Like for instance dogs the salt goes into their paws which cause all sorts of things like infections that can change rapidly. And blood infections if it is not taken cared of right away. And can cause death in the dog as well. The salt never goes away so it ends up in our likes when the ice melts it go with it to our lakes which can get into our water systems so we are drinking salt that's many people have stepped on. And it is killing the stuff in our lakes and it is not a great ecosystem with all the salt in it. So there is so many issues already with this but if any of these issues happens to you pet or to your body from the salt in water it can unravels so many other issues
My evidence of our environment are our three sources that clearly states that all of this salt is horrible for cats, dogs, and the lake and the fish in it.And our source says that “The MPCA has determined that road salt is responsible for 42% of the chloride in our groundwater.” according to, https://www.hometownsource.com/salt-a-growing-problem-for-minnesota-s-water/article_f72a603e-32a6-11ec-97f6-5fec167f537e.html
the reason why this issue is affecting this community is once the salt disulves in the water you can not get it out. It could also harm the life that is in the water.
The people responsible for creating this problem are all of us humans we are the ones putting the salt on our properties. A solution to solve this problem could be buying pet friendly ice salt and just using one coffee mug full of salt even that's amount can cover a driveway. That's is enough and if we do this to help this won’t be so bad of an issue. I am petitioning to use less salt and safer salt to make a change about this problem. So use less salt to help the world be a safer place for us humans and animals.
