Decision Maker Response

Ancestry.com’s response

Jan 13, 2014 — For some time, Ancestry.com has recognized the evolution of the family and we pride ourselves in supporting all types of families in both our Ancestry.com online member trees and our Family Tree Maker software. Although the default choice is a father/mother relationship, adding same-sex couples into a tree can be done by choosing the gender for each of the ancestors you add to your family tree. We empower members to list a spousal relationship as spouse, partner, friend, single, or other. When offering a comprehensive family tree development service, there is no question that the traditional family unit has evolved greatly and we make it a priority to ensure that our service reflects this.
