Most recently with the work “Maus”, conservative legislators and politicians alike are working to ban certain books from educational institutions. These restrictions are said to be necessary to prevent children from being exposed to certain unpleasantries, such as profanity, nudity, or divisive concepts. While the practice of banning books is divisive itself in nature, bans should be consistent among each genre of literature despite personal beliefs of spiritual connections. For that reason as well as the extensive amount of murder, genocide, and adult content included in the Holy Bible, this religious work should also be excluded from the classroom theater (by the federal or state governments) in order to preserve fairness and consistency towards enforcing these newly-sought regulations. By signing this petition, you and I alike demand strict interpretation and enforcement of restrictions regarding divisive literature/topics, whether those topics or works be contextually political, religious, or historical.
