Why this petition matters

Started by Jamie Neidig

Disposable face masks, an integral part of our public defense against the spread of COIVD-19, are currently only considered eligible for reimbursement with a consumer-directed healthcare account (e.g., Flexible Spending Account, Heath Savings Account) with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from a medical doctor. Given all Americans are encouraged to use masks, materials for making masks and purchase of masks and supplies (e.g., cloth masks, paint respirators, carbon filters) for the purpose of creating a physical barrier between the wearer's face and the breathable environment should be eligible for reimbursement for with a consumer-directed healthcare account in all cases. Congress should update the law effective for purchases beginning January 1, 2020.

For clarification, particulate respirator masks (e.g., N95s used by healthcare workers) are already eligible for reimbursement with a consumer-directed healthcare account.
