Bernie O'Donnell started this petition to tim.czerwienski@boston.gov and

We, the undersigned residents of South Boston, are opposed to latest proposal by Hilco/Redgate to redevelop the former Edison Plant. The height and density (multiple buildings over 180 and 200 feet tall) are still too much and do not belong in a residential neighborhood.

Moreover, the City of Boston's zoning code does not allow for any residential housing at this location. Additionally, there is a deed restriction in place that prevents any housing from being built in order to protect the Port from dense housing at this location.

This project requires too many special variances to go forward. This kind of density and massing simply does not belong in this residential neighborhood and will set a precedent all along 1st street for years to come that is not acceptable.
