Petition for Project Management

The following students of IBA have created this petition as we believe that the “Big Company Report,” which consists of 20% of the final grade is an unreasonable assignment. Currently, the students are unable to complete the tasks that we are assigned due to the following reasons.

Firstly, there is a significant lack of information available to us. Furthermore, the little information that is online, is for the most part in Dutch. This is particularly detrimental to International students as they are hampered and are unable to work effectively in an independent manner. It is also unreasonable to assume that the Dutch students can assist in this issue as many students have jobs, and other activities and it is not easy to find an overlap of time large enough for the astronomical requirements.

Secondly, voicing these complaints to the course coordinator, Mr. CK Kela has not been effective as he has simply brushed off our complaints and concerns by telling us to develop “contingency plans,” or giving us other very vague and useless ‘advice.’ We do not believe that a lecturer should behave in such a manner.

Thirdly, the organization of the material on canvas is very poorly done. There is no syllabus present, and the students are required to search into many various places to find information for every single week. In similar subjects such as Marketing Management or Foundations of International Strategy, all the resources are very well laid out in a straightforward and logical manner. It seems tedious and unneeded for us students to be required to go through the various folders and subfolders in order to find all the data required to meet the basic requirements of each task.

Fourthly, this course is full of unnecessary and irrelevant tasks and it makes it fully demanding, as we, students, can not work on the other subjects of second semester as it consumes most of our time and so far most of the students have this notion that they have not been educated by this course.
