Police officers risk their lives every day for us and regardless of the average 150 US Police officers that suffer Line Of Duty Deaths(LODD) each year, they are widely disrespected and hated due to a few bad apples and the fact that 10 seconds of video without context can label an officer that's just trying to defend himself and the lives of nearby citizens can be labeled as a trigger happy racists and have their careers and even lives jeopardized due to that. Hundreds of activists can list names of dozens of people killed by police (In most cases the officer ends up being completely innocent) but I don't think any of them could list 5 police officers killed in the line of duty. Police officers may have to make a decision in a single second, all while it takes a lawyer 6 months to review it, all the while the public is rioting due to what they believe is misconduct. "What is a policeman? He of all men is at once the most needed, and the most wanted, a strangely nameless creature who is "sir" to his face, and "pig" or worse behind his back." -Paul Harvey

The average income for a police officer can range from $40,000 to $60,000. Now compare that to a famous athlete. The athlete makes millions by playing something which most people consider a pastime, but the police officer makes $55,000 for literally dodging bullets, practically making couples fall back in love after a domestic violence situation, fend for himself against a group of 5 angry men on a desolate back street with the nearest backup officer 30 minutes away and if he pulls his gun during the fight people will call him a coward for needing a weapon to fight unarmed suspects, and bury his fellow officers while thinking haunting thoughts to himself like 'If I had tried taking a short cut would I have arrived fast enough to save them?' or 'What could I have done to save them?'.
