Recently, I went on a vacation to Boston, Massachusetts with my mom and my sister for about a week. Definitely not cheap for our family, but we were all excited to go and revisit family. However, during a significant part of our trip, my little sister spend most of her time looking at or making TikToks. While this is nothing new for her, it became very annoying as I could hear all of it and we were on a nice trip. For me, this was the final straw.

As TikTok becomes more and more popular every day, more and more children sign up. Most children prefer to stay indoors glued to this app rather than do normal childhood activities, such as playing outside, or hanging out with friends. Even when children hang out, the time is still consumed by TikTok.

This app can also be damaging to a child's mental health, promoting the idea of social standards. If you don't look or act like someone popular, children feel as though they are not good enough, or don't reach up to those "social standards". It can also promote a toxic habit of kids competing for internet fame. Every day, millions of kids compete constantly for likes, views, and a few seconds of internet clout. It can also shift or alter a child's personality to fit in with everyone else.

The app can also be annoying to older kids and/or non-users. This is caused by children acting differently, not pay attention to whats around them, and making rude or disrespectful comments to other people. Kids using the app can be exposed to harmful or inappropriate content. Damaging their entire identity, and shaping them into a generic  thinker that only dreams about becoming famous. This leads to kids not changing themselves because they want to improve themselves, but because they think it's what will gain more likes and follows.
