Charles Lorman started this petition to ThunderRidge High school and

This Petition was started as we students at TRHS are concerned that the All, All, Odd, Even, All schedule TRHS plans on implementing would further increase our exposure to COVID 19 and further increase the workload of an already stressful year. By increasing the people we come in contact with throughout the day as a result of 3 all days, one kid testing positive could pass it on to dozens or even hundreds more kids then they would've if we were on a block day schedule. This makes the schedule a health and safety risk to the well being of students, as they can't guarantee our safety in a school of 2100+ students who are all passing through the halls at least 8 times a day. We would also see an increase in work from this 3 All day schedule with little time to accomplish this work required. Already students are stressed and falling behind in school as a result of this increased workload, stress that would only increase with 3 All days a week. We propose an All Day on Monday with an Odd-Even block schedule Tuesday through Friday or a variant with one All day as an alternative. We believe that this template would best serve the safety and mental health of all of our students by continuing to provide social interaction, preventing possible exposures, and keeping school work at a level that is both beneficial to student learning as well as manageable. We hope that the admin of ThunderRidge will be open to suggestion and help in remaking a schedule, knowing that we are doing this out for the good of our classmates, families, and community, not just for ourselves.
