In today's school system, students are overwhelmed with the constant struggle of studying for tests, completing homework, and taking care of responsibilities outside of school. With only 24 hours in a day, it is impossible to expect any teenager to completely devote themselves to academics, and many deal with circumstances far beyond their control. It shouldn't be unordinary that sometimes students have bad tests. Tests especially do not truly test students' knowledge but rather increase the amount of chronic stress students face. Published in a paper from the National Bureau of Economic Research, students have up to 15 percent more cortisol (stress hormone) in their bodies on testing days compared to regular school days. This can lead to unhealthy eating, high blood pressure, depression, and anxiety. For this reason, allowing point recovery or test corrections on assessments would greatly help alleviate such stressors. Not only this but students will aim to learn the information rather than cramming it in before a test out of fear of failing. There are already enough quizzes and assignments and by having tests that encourage learning and growth, students will be able to prosper in their academic careers. With test corrections available on every test, students will have the opportunity to make mistakes and learn rather than be overwhelmed with getting a good grade.
