Newfoundlanders for a localized cannabis industry.

This petition is important to me as a Newfoundlander because getting the maximum benefit from the cannabis industry for the Province makes sense. We are currently at a time where we can still influence the decisions of the Province through a loud voice and solidarity, by expressing our intent at public consultations, town halls, around the dinner table, and by signing this petition. Localizing the industry would create thousands of jobs. The tax revenue annually could be as high as $85,000,000 Made by Newfoundlanders for Newfoundlanders. Cannabis smokers of the Province smoke up to 200lbs of cannabis a day, that's upwards of $261,632,000 in end user sales per year. It's time we take the control of the industry out of the hands of the underworld and put it in the hands of Newfoundlanders. If the pharmaceutical industry, big cannabis industry, or the online sales industry are allowed to take over here we can lose so much. Localizing will create an economic boom which can better our Province in multiple ways, and create much needed community building. Please sign the petition.
Whereas the Federal government plans to legalize recreational cannabis by July 1, 2018.
Whereas it will be up to the Provinces which licensed producers and distributers of cannabis can operate within each Province.
Whereas localizing the cannabis industry will maximize the positive impact for all Newfoundlanders.
We the undersigned, ask the Newfoundland government to take control of the future of the new cannabis industry by crafting legislation in a timely fashion allowing local cannabis production, using locally owned dispensaries, and allowing residents to grow up to 4 plants at home. We the undersigned feel this is the best way forward to ensuring job creation, economic growth, a booming industry, and a healthier, happier, stronger Newfoundland.
