I do NOT support this petition. There are seven people that live upstairs and if Visions closes, they will likely be displaced. I am one of them. None of the people living upstairs frequent the establishment, so no, we are not a bunch of creepy perverts. There are 2 people that have been living here for more than 20 years, and I personally will have been here 6 years come February. I have never been to their club, not even once.

What I will share is that the area has become more sketchy since Kwik Trip took over the PDQ. For some reason that place attracts a lot of sketchy people. It didn't seem that bad when PDQ was there, for some reason. I cannot explain why, but it does seem that Kwik Trip is a lot busier than PDQ was. While I know Visions does attract some sketchy people, I actually would feel more safe there than when I go to Kwik Trip.

Personally, I am not the biggest fan of Tom, the owner of Visions. I am also not an advocate of his type of business. But I have to be fair and say that I do not believe he is involved in or promotes any illegal activities in his club. I really think any type of illegal activities that occur at Visions could be found with the same frequency as at any other bar in Madison. I think the club gets a lot of bad press solely due to peoples' bias against the type of business it is. The bottom line is that Tom runs a legal business that has been there for more than 4 decades. If people have such a strong moral opposition to Visions, they are free to move, just like if they don't like the noise from the fighter planes that fly from Truax field. Visions has been at its location longer than anyone that currently lives in the neighborhood.

I really don't like this "blame Visions for everything" attitude, and Alderman Ahrens should be ashamed of himself for promoting it. Nobody in the area wanted PDQ, now Kwik Trip, to build the location next door, and it has definitely contributed to more crime and drugs in the area. I have seen numerous drug deals happen there, as well as empty baggies on the sidewalks and the parking lot there. If Ahrens said that the Truax apartments were a source of drugs and crime, people would be screaming racism from the rooftops, even though that low-income apartment complex probably contributes to problems in the area much more than Visions. So let's put the blame where it really lies, which is NOT on Visions!

I believe that this is not a business that promotes the well-being of the neighborhood or the city.

The # of police calls alone to Visions should be reason enough to revoke their license. I lived in Madison for 30# years; since Visions opened it has brought down the neighborhood. Get some kind of neighborhood enhancing business in there. (I now live in DeForest, so not sure my signature will be accepted for this petition.)

Visions Nightclub gives strip clubs and sex work a bad name, and is exactly what's wrong with the industry. They clearly are incapable of managing their own affairs, leading to over 100 police calls in two years. This is valuable time and resources being taken away from others in the city who need it. The very LEAST that should be done is to pull their liquor license. Good day.

Visions only highlights the negatives of Madison. They have no positive impact on the community.
