Homeschoolers Access To Public School Extracurricular Activities.

Homeschoolers Access To Public School Extracurricular Activities.
I believe that all homeschool students should have the opportunity to participate in our Public school's extracurricular programs and activities, such as band, Academic clubs and sports. You might ask why extracurricular activities are important? They help build relationships and they help students develop socially and physically. Extracurricular activities help build higher self esteem and teamwork, problem solving, leadership, and time management skills. Extracurricular activities also look good on college applications and job resumes. Why should public school students be the only ones to benefit from the advantages of extracurricular activities and programs? We, as a homeschool community, would like to be able to participate in these activities to be able to build necessary skills and experiences for a successful future. In order for this to happen we need the help of our community and elected officials in North Carolina. We want our government to take a another look at the Tim Tebow bill. The Tim Tebow bill is a bill that allows homeschool students to participate in Extracurricular activities through the public school system in the District that they live in. Even though there is something similar in effect, the school district ultimately makes the decision and in most cases does not allow Home School students to participate in public school extracurricular activities and programs.
