Important MHRA/EMA update
Aug 19, 2017 — Dear Supporter
Well I wasn't expecting to update you all with such an exciting development, one that may well reduce the stress of trying to obtain two auto injector pens from your GP.
On the 15th August 2017 the Medicines Healthcare products
Regulatory Agency (MHRA) released revised European Medicines Agency guidelines. (EMA)
Within the guidelines the theme of carrying two pens at all times is very apparent, you will see within the short report the reasons why.
The @Campaign42AAI welcomes this development , in particular as there is not even a whisper of a risk assessment needed. We always knew they supported two pens but had been quite on the subject. Even better is the fact that according to a number of pharmacist's we have spoken to, they and they think G.P's, have been sent this document! Wow.
How this will impact long term on obtaining a second AAI is yet to be seen. Obviously GP's have conflicting advice and documents from the BSACI. We will of course continue campaigning against BSACI prescription guidelines in the hope that common sense prevails. Anaphylaxis simply cannot, by its nature, be risk assessed.
Please find the attached report and take a copy with you to your consultant and GP appointment to make sure it's considered.
Have a great summer and do please take a minute to share the petition, we are 1500 off 50,000 now.
