Build a Skatepark in the Granada Park, Dublin
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
This petition is to show support and to prove that there is a genuine local need for a concrete skatepark in Granada Park.
There are lots of skateparks scattered around dublin, some of which are exellent, but some of which were poorly build. Around blackrock there
is only one skatepark and it is very small, and doesnt have the facilitys for an advanced skater/ scooter rider. The plan for this new skatepark
will be a small bowl perfect for beginner and advanced riders. There are only 2 bowls in Ireland; Bushy Skatepark and Bridges. Bushy is too far for younger skaters to get too unless they live localy.
Bridges is up in Northern Ireland meaning its a 2 hour drive for anyone living in Dublin.
The new skatepark will be a free-to-use, safe, inclusive and family orientated sports facility for users of all ages.
Skateparks are proven to increase health, well-being, community cohesion whilst reducing social exclusion and anti-social behaviour.
The skatepark will not only benefit skatepark users, it will enhance the town and will be an asset to the whole community.
There is a growing need for more skateparks around dublin as so many young kids are getting into the sport.
Also, we need an Irish skate team in Tokyo 2020. Or at least Paris 2024. That dream starts with access to proper facilities.
Britain have built hundreds of skating facilities, or have them under study for future construction.
We believe Ireland needs to do the same.
We have set up a petiton on change.org and are looking to get around 1000 signatures. We think that is a reasonable amount to get permission
to use a segment of the land in Granada Park to build our small skatepark.
We would like the skatepark to be placed towards the right side of the tennis court on the lower green as there are ususaly children playing
football towards the left of the tennis courts and we would not like disturb any locals.
