It's been 1 1/2 years government pays wages to the employees of Sri Venkateswara Co-Op. Sugar Factory LTD, Gajulamandyam, Tirupati and pending wages for the years 2014 - 2015 to farmers who supply sugarcane to the factory. The government had stopped paying provident fund since April 2014 and LIC since April 2016 and gratuity and other allowances to the retired employees since 2013 to till date. All the people working here are from middle class and below middle class. They are not asking salaries for their luxuries, but live their life with dignity.
For the past two years the government didn't give permission to start crushing saying there is no profit. There are 3 or more private factories in this area working without loss and paying wages regularly, then how come only government factories cannot able to start crushing because of loss and lack of funds. Even after giving No. of petitions to local leaders and government authorities no one is taking any actions to solve the problem. There was tons of sugar in the store room. Occasionally, management sold this sugar, but not ready to pay wages. There are hundreds of employees and thousands of farmers and labor depends on this factor and for them the only source of income comes when government gives permission to start crushing.
Not only Sri Venkateswara Co-Op. Sugar Factory LTD in this region, Chittoor and Nellore government factories are also facing the same problems for 3 years. I kindly request the government to personally look at the issue and pay the pending wages of the employees and farmers. Please give permission to start the factories for the current year.
