How would you feel about this, your agency calls you for a job one morning and tells you that you will be paid £60 per day, you accept the job. However at the end of day, by chance you come across a correspondent that shows that the agency is actually being paid £200 per day for your services.

What have you done, you are the one sitting in traffic to get to the job, you are the one on the front line, as a teacher you are the one often having to deal with challenging behaviour in a classroom, you are the one thinking about your financial obligation to a family. You are doing all the work yet look at the proportion of the fee you have received! This is what really happens everyday to agency workers!

In the UK, many Recruitment / Employment agencies withhold the fees they are taking from the client. This information should be transparent so that the person assigned to work is fully aware of how much the agency charges on their behalf. Transparency will also eliminate discrimination, for example gender issues to show what an agency may be paying a man or woman or with race the difference in payment to a black or white person.

In addition to this, the agency should only take between 15 to 20% of the fee. Many agencies have been extremely greedy and are taking 40 to 60%, this needs to stop. People should be paid their value and agencies should respect both clients and assigned workers.

Agencies should tell assigned workers in writing how much is being taken from the client and how much % they are taking whether it is 15%, 20%  or any number in-between.
