For a long time, all my family have been concerned about the consequences of no control over the interest rates charged by so-called payday loan companies. This means that the low-income families who take out these loans at exorbitant interest rates quickly get into a downward spiral. Yes, this could really lead to someones suicide as portrayed on BBC's program tonight 'Killed By My Debt'. .........."The story of Jerome Rogers, a popular 19-year-old from a council estate, who in January 2015, finally got what he had been working for - a new motorbike and his first real job as a courier. But when two £65 traffic fines rose to over a £1,000, bailiffs became involved. Some weeks his take-home pay in his zero-hours job was as low as £12, and under the pressure of his debt, Jerome took his own life.

If you, like me, think that what happened is a disgraceful symptom of our seeming inability to control loan sharks and also the way the enforcement system operates through bailiffs, please take a minute to sign this petition.

I know Change.org petitions work as we have already had a petition which 176,000 people signed, and a subsequent debate in Parliament, and consequential action.
