Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Home Department,

Back in 2015, Theresa May (then UK's home secretary) banned singer/rapper Tyler, The Creator (Tyler Okonma) from entering the United Kingdom's territory. This decision was pushed as a result of Tyler's highly provocative, misogynist and homophobic lyrics. As legitimate and understandable as this decision may have been at the time, although he himself acknowledged that these lyrics should not be taken to face-value and supported fellow artist Frank Ocean's coming out publicly on his album Wolf and twitter, it only applied to his first two studio albums Bastard and Goblin, recorded at the age of 18 and 20 respectively. Since then, Tyler has released three studio albums, with a fourth upcoming one, shifting radically both in the content of his lyrics and his personality, going as far as revealing in his 2017 that he has himself had homosexual experiences. The bastard became a flower boy, and there is no more legitimacy to the ban he is imposed. As a worldwide famous and loved artist, a large portion of his listeners live here, in the United Kingdom, and does not understand anymore, if it ever did, the reasons behind this severity. Art should not, and especially when uncontroversial, fall under the censorship of an advanced democracy like ours. In a country that calls for the acceptance and integration of everyone, we demand that Tyler Okonma is liberated from that ban, we demand that the youth of this country is given the chance to benefit from all of the positiveness and love that emanates from this artist.

Yours sincerely,

UK's youth
