Extend paid maternity leave for multiple births.

I had twins in June 16. I went back to work in June 17. However if I had my two babies separately I would get two years off (18 months paid- 9months per baby)
When I returned to work I had to use 'professional' childcare, as asking family to look after two under 1's for 3 days -free of charge -was a lot, and quite frankly overwhelming on lots of levels. Taking them to ‘groups’ to occupy them isn’t as easy with 2 at the same developmental stage- so there is lots of ‘hometime’ to fill.
I'm not asking for a year per multiple- but I am asking that multiples maternity leave is looked at properly with the view to either increasing paid leave or increasing SMP for the existing leave entitlement. (Sorry to all employers out there!)
Please take the time to read the well written letter- formulated by Vicky Wilkins and shared to a twins Facebook page I am part of. She says it al lot better than me. Thanks!
